Arrow UK & Ireland is a big organisation and it can be difficult to keep track of who’s who. We like to introduce any new employees to the business here, to give you a real snippet of who the new folks are so they’re not just another name joining the company.
Welcome to Arrow!
I joined Arrow ECS (Newmarket) at the beginning of April with a 20+ year background in communications, going back to when Royal Philips Electronics was still a big name in business communications. Over the last 10 years I have worked with vendors such as 3Com, Alcatel-Lucent, Aruba, HP and Fortinet, and I am now absorbing an overdose of information on Ruckus, Juniper and Arista with more to come… I live in the village of Lackford, halfway between Bury St Edmunds and Mildenhall, where I share a household with 3 females (!) and some koi carp.
Loves... Orange, hill walking, stroopwafels, les bières belges, BBQ and the British weather…
Previous to accepting my role here at Arrow as Product Manager of Pivot3, I attended the University of Nottingham and then worked for a year as a Customer Service Supervisor in catering and hospitality. My first five weeks have been fantastic; I couldn’t ask for a better team and I was lucky enough to go on a trip to Texas to take part in sales training and meet the Pivot3 team over in the United States. I am incredibly excited about this role and can’t wait to see where it takes me.
Loves… Music. Of any kind. And dogs. Of any kind.
Deputy Account Manager
Before joining the Sales Team in our Newmarket office, I was working in a company called Booking.com which was a brilliant company to work for. I met so many fabulous people and visited so many nice places! It was completely a different environment and time for a change, so I decided to take on a new opportunity and learn something new and this role sounded really good to me.
I am really enjoying learning the processes and new systems and everyone has been very welcoming and helpful. Although there is a lot of new information to take in, I am looking forward to the challenges.
Loves… Cooking, walking, socialising with friends and my favourite one - going on HOLIDAYS!!!!!!
Before joining the Nottingham Marketing team at the start of July, I was a student! This is my first job in my life and has so far been a very enjoyable and knowledgeable experience. However, another ‘job’ I have in my life is being a young leader at my local Cub Scouts group: 1st Greasley Cub Scouts.
I have been a young leader for the last four years. I gained many social and work ethic skills from my time being there which I believe will give me a head start in learning how everything works here at Arrow. I have been here at Arrow for just under a month and I look forward to the opportunities I hope to grasp here in the future.
Loves… Japanese animation and culture, drawing, computing and Sombreros apparently.
Deputy Account Manager
I’ve been at Arrow now for a matter of weeks, having not done much IT related work since college several years ago. My previous role was selling utilities (Gas & Electric) to business, so at least I’ve got the sales skills of my new role in Nottingham as Deputy Account Manager sorted. Learning about all the Vendors is a lot to take on, but I think I’m doing okay so far…no headaches yet.
Loves… Socially, I enjoy most sports, especially motor racing & football (mainly watching, don’t get to play too often). I love watching films, spending time with mates and seeing my family.
Business Development Manager
Prior to joining Arrow, I worked for a reseller (Foursys Ltd) for 4 ½ years as Education Team Manager. I enjoy being in the IT security industry and decided to move to Arrow to understand the channel and progress my career further. As BDM I already have a good understanding of Forescout, and am currently getting up to speed with Bluecoat.
Loves… In my spare time I work out at the gym a lot. I am currently working towards a physique competition in June 2016 which involves a lot of gym time and healthy eating. I am also a big fan of Kurt Geiger shoes.
Resource Controller - Arrow ECS Education
In June I started working for Arrow in the Instructor Booking Team in Harrogate, I previously worked in the public sector for North Yorkshire County Council for nearly 8 years in a variety of roles. My main role being an IT Training and Development Officer, this was to roll out a new IT project across the whole of Children’s Social Care. I did this for about 5 years and really enjoyed the role, this role was made redundant and after going back to work in admin for the past 2 years I felt like I was in a bit of a dead end. I feel my experience in the IT Training role has given me an insight into this world, and has given me vital knowledge to enable me to settle in at Arrow very quickly.
Since starting at Arrow, it has been a breath of fresh air. The company is fantastic, my colleagues have been very welcoming and made me feel like one of the team. We have a lot of new starters in the Instructor Booking Team so there is lots to learn, but I’m thoroughly enjoying my new role at Arrow and I’m very excited about the long term future of the business and the possibilities for myself working for such a great company.
Loves... Well, my main hobby is that I’m a Season Ticket Holder for Manchester United, I go to the games with 3 of my mates. I also play Cricket in Division 2 of the Nidderdale League every Saturday during the summer months (British weather permitting). I enjoy watching stand-up comedy and have been to some live gigs, including my favourite Lee Evans. I also enjoy looking after and spending as much time as possible with my little Godson, he’s the best.
Internal Account Manager
Before joining the Advantage Team in the Nottingham office, I undertook a three year BA (Hons) Management degree at Nottingham Trent University. During that time I had two jobs during an industrial placement, one at a consultancy firm in Nottingham and another at a government funded energy saving firm in Chesterfield.
This was a good experience and gave me my first taste of a real job, which in hindsight has been really valuable. Hopefully the skills I learnt while there and while at university will help me succeed in my new role here at Arrow! I have been with the company for almost two months now and I can say I’m thoroughly enjoying myself and look forward to what the future holds.
Loves... Sport, holidays, going out with friends
I have recently joined Arrow from Bluefin, which is one of the UK’s biggest insurance companies. Coming from a financial services background has provided its opportunities so far, with many of our partners focused on selling to this industry.
I graduated with a BA History degree from the University of Portsmouth in 2013, before going travelling and skiing for around 8 months. Working as a chef in a chalet also increased my cooking skills dramatically! Whilst at university I developed a strong interest in marketing and worked part time for the university in their Marketing team. I’ve really enjoyed my first month at Arrow and am looking forward to a lengthy career here.
Loves… Skiing, diet and nutrition, fitness, cycling and rugby.
Deputy Account Manager
Before joining Arrow as a Deputy Account Manager, I previously worked as an Account Manager for Yuasa Batteries in Swindon, where I worked and lived for 2 long years. Originally from Nottinghamshire and having withdrawal, I returned to the Shire and here I am!
I’m really enjoying the job so far, everyone seems lovely. I love a good challenge and due to not coming from an IT background, I’m learning lots of new things which is definitely making me question my intelligence!
Loves… I love a good social life, spending most of my free time with friends or family. I’m a big music lover, enjoy going to gigs and festivals and I am also partial to the occasional pint and an adventure on a weekend.
Before I joined the Symantec team in Stockport I was a Sales Manager for a generalist reseller for a few years, prior to that I worked at Computacenter and also Bell Micro and Avnet. Since joining I have seen some true value delivered into the vendor and also into the partners. The team and everyone I have met have made me very welcome.
Loves… Socialising, going on holidays (New York is a favourite destination) and generally having fun.
Deputy Account Manager – DCS
Before joining Arrow in June 2015, I graduated from the University of Derby in January with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Creative Expressive Therapy. I previously worked as a Supervisor at Superdry during my time of study and also spent 3 months on a placement in the Superdry Head Office working as a Brand Ambassador in Events Management. During this time I planned, organised, marketed and managed 86 student events across the country and helped earn the company over £1m in 3 weeks. I’m brand new to the IT industry but eager to learn and hope that my new role at Arrow leads to a long and happy career.
Loves… Surfing, travelling and socialising with friends.
Quote and Configuration Specialist
Prior to joining Arrow I had spent the majority of my working life at Reading Football Club, starting off in the Ticket Office before moving on to work at the Club's highly successful Academy and gaining many valuable experiences and skills along the way.
I decided to join Arrow as I saw it as a big challenge for myself personally, having little to no experience of the IT industry, whilst also being an extremely positive step forward in my professional career.
One month in and I'm enjoying the challenge and looking forward to continuing the learning process.
Loves… Football, Cricket, Athletics, Socialising and Cheesecake!
Internal Account Manager
In June, I joined the Arrow team in the Nottingham office – since then, I’ve met some great people and learned a lot in the short time I’ve been here. Before that, I completed a Sociology degree in Leicester, working alongside my degree for a small self-storage business. Originally from Poland, I moved to London in 2004 and never looked back. Part of my heritage means I’m fluent in Polish and can speak a little bit of Russian too!
Technological progress fascinates me – to be at the forefront of it with Arrow is an amazing feeling. Looking forward to contributing to the team and the challenges to come.
Loves… Fast cars, good food and strong coffee. If I’m not gaming, I’m probably in the kitchen cooking!
Quote and Configuration Specialist
Before joining Arrow in July as a Quote & Configuration Specialist, I worked for Stryker Medical as a Technical Services Specialist for the best part of 18 months. My decision to leave was fuelled by wanting the challenge of a new, more demanding role, with greater responsibilities and also a burning desire to travel, so I packed my bags and set off to Thailand & Malaysia for 8 weeks. I came back to the UK this June and a week later found myself in Las Vegas on a stag doo. Having had the time of my life I found myself starting a new and challenging career at Arrow, where my focus is to develop a career and learn from my colleagues in the Q&C team.
Loves… Playing and watching football, running and going to the gym. I spend a lot of my free time socialising with friends and I enjoy a day out horse racing.
Financial and Planning Analyst
I am originally a country girl from the village of Cononley near Skipton, moving to Leeds July 1995.
My career in Leeds began as Accounts Supervisor at Appleyard Vehicle Contract Hire, progressing to roles with CODA as Helpdesk Analyst, Virgin Media within Management Accounts and Job Cost Analysis for the onsite manufacture of Camelot lottery scratch cards at Scientific Games. Prior to joining Arrow two months ago I was working as a Financial & Planning Analyst covering maternity.
Loves… I am a keen film buff and music lover with a particular passion for gigging, recently seeing: The Struts, The Pretty Reckless, Papa Roach & Fleetwood Mac. I have recently discovered a liking for bird watching and squirrel feeding locally on a Sunday afternoon.
Customer Service Agent
Before joining the Newmarket Training team in June, I worked for a local estate agent for nearly 2 years in the Lettings department. As much as I liked my role there I felt I wanted to try a new challenge. I have thoroughly enjoyed becoming part of the team here at Arrow, everyone has been very welcoming, helpful and patient as there is still so much for me to learn.
Loves… Socialising with friends, shopping and my attempts to take up running (although not sure I can say that’s a love yet).
Internal Account Manager
I was reading Business and Operations Management at Sheffield Hallam University and whilst completing my final exams I had my interview/assessment day at Arrow. I am new to both IT and sales. Despite this, I believe I can use my degree to my advantage, benefiting me within my role and helping me to become successful within it. I am very excited about this opportunity with Arrow and hope to have a long and successful career with them.
Loves… Outside of work I am massively into my sport, playing golf, cricket, and squash. However, rugby is my main love and I play at Sheffield RUFC.
Business Development Manager
My family and I moved to London from Toronto, Canada in December of 2014. I’ve since joined Arrow, working out of the Royal Exchange office as a Lenovo Business Development Manager. Prior to joining Arrow, I had worked for 9 years with IBM Canada and Lenovo in various roles selling their server product line.
Loves… Chasing around after my two young children, seeing Europe for the first time, experiencing all the amazing things London has to offer!
Before I joined the Virtualisation Purchasing Team at Arrow as an apprentice, I worked in the building trade as a self-employed painter and decorator for nearly 2 years. I left the building trade to have a career change and now I’m here at Arrow. I am very happy here at Arrow and I’m glad I made the career switch. Working in the building trade was an interesting experience and I got to see what life is like in that world, but overall I decided it wasn’t for me.
I have been working at Arrow for nearly a month now and I’m enjoying my time here, I’m looking forward to what the future brings.
Loves… My hobbies include listening to music (anything from 1930s blues to modern and contemporary rock), playing the guitar, watching football (I’m a Leeds United fan) and I like reading and watching TV.
Technical Account Manager
Before joining Arrow as Technical Account Manager, I worked in Cambridge for an I.T security reseller called Foursys where I was the Technical Manager. This role included extensive travel, so I have managed to travel around a lot. I have now been with Arrow since the 16th June and have the pleasure of working in a great team.
Loves… I love spending time with my family, playing drums, music festivals, gym and football.
Previous to working in IT I was a children’s entertainer. So naturally face painting, balloon modelling and occasionally dressing up as a giant bear led me to the world of IT. I’ve been working in IT for about 5 years and with Arrow just over a month now. I’m enjoying the role and also no longer having to do the daily London commute!
Loves… I am animal crazy and have cats, rats, a rabbit and chinchilla at home – if I could have more I would! In my free time I enjoy gaming, reading and exploring new places.
Before Joining Arrow as a Technical Storage Consultant I worked for Dell computers in Dublin for over fourteen years both as a Frontline Technical Support Agent and an on-site escalation engineer. I spent my last five years at Dell as a Technical Trainer, delivering training on storage solutions from Dell and EMC as well as other Dell products and software.
I enjoy a challenge and learning new products. I was once a DJ on a local radio station, Radio Force 7 in Saint Malo France, so I enjoy music and meeting people.
Loves… In my spare time I LARP (Live Action Role Play). Basically it’s like Lord of the Rings re-enactment and is a great laugh, especially when the whole family is involved. I am also a SCUBA diver and enjoy diving back in my home island of Jersey.
Renewals Sales Specialist
I joined the IBM Service Suite team in Theale at the start of July after previously doing exactly the same role for Avnet for over 3 years. I have been within the IT industry now for around 5 years, covering resellers, distis and vendors and have enjoyed all areas in different ways.
My new team at Arrow is great and I have settled in well. I hope to learn more, but also hope that my previous experience will mean I hit the ground running and help the team from day one.
Loves… I love spending time with my family, but mostly enjoy my one to one time with my 2 year old. I also love shopping, spending time with friends and breaks away.
I joined the Finance Team in July after taking a short career break to travel to India and have a well-earned rest! Before that, I worked as Head of Finance for Engineering Solutions at Marshall Aerospace in Cambridge for over 7 years, gaining a wide range of experience across all areas of finance and also acquiring two companies for the aerospace business. I am very interested in coaching and mentoring and studied for certification in these areas to develop my leadership skills.
Outside of work, I sing as a first soprano with the Bury Bach Choir and try to get outdoors – either walking or cycling - as much as possible. I also the enjoy cinema and going to music concerts.
Loves... Travel and new experiences, a book that you can’t put down and a good sing.
